A loving community...
 | | Bar Mitzvah at Eitz Or | | | Thank you for your interest in Congregation Eitz Or——a unique home in Seattle for the renewal of Jewish tradition.
Congregation Eitz Or is an active, growing congregation with a diverse membership. Members come to Eitz Or through many different paths, each bringing a spark of light to the braided flame of the community. We embrace a variety of Jewish religious identifications, beliefs, and practices, as well as multicultural and multiracial households, including non-Jewish partners and family members. We welcome gays, lesbians, bisexual, and transgendered people.
What joins us is a shared commitment to joyful egalitarian worship that draws on Chasidic practices, meditation, Kabbalah and other mystical sources, and on more mainstream practices. At Eitz Or, we seek to make Jewish spirituality accessible, encouraging each member’s growth and development by drinking from the wells of tefillah (prayer), mitzvah (deed), and Torah (study). Our community siddur (prayerbook) is in Hebrew, transliteration, and English to support all levels of participation. We invite you to worship, study, and celebrate with us.

Annual Dues: To help meet the operating expenses of running the community, members pledge annual dues on a sliding scale from 1% (lower income) to 2.5% of annual household income. Dues can be paid in one lump sum at High Holy Days or in quarterly payments over the year.
No one will be turned away because of an inability to pay.
Volunteering: Eitz Or started as a havurah and has been nurtured and built by the volunteering energy of its active members. We welcome people who identify a need and step forward to provide a solution. It's also the best way to get to know people in the community. Eitz Or activities range from one-time events, such as the Purimspiel for this year or a Mid-East peace event, to year-long programs. You can take part at many levels from helping to set up and clean up at Eitz Or events, to coordinating all of the details of an event, to chairing a committee charged with guiding a program. We value volunteer energy at all levels. Currently, volunteers organize adult education, the P'ri Eitz Or religious school, liturgy, music, High Holy Days, Tikkun Olam, and more. If you'd like to get involved with any of these teams (or to start a group to focus on another aspect of community life) please send e-mail to info@eitzor.org or speak to one of the Shomerim (board of directors) at services.
